These dogs live up to fifteen years and remain active for most of their lives, so it’s a great commitment to keep such a hound.

This breed is so old that its ancestry is lost in time. Many breed enthusiasts hold different ideas about the history of the breed. Most agree that it is probably one of the oldest Hounds. These dogs were used to track and hunt during the Roman times. The dogs of this breed require minimal grooming. A regular brushing and bath tend to help control the shedding process. These dogs should not be allowed to roam free. Their nose will surely get them into trouble. Barking and a strong hunting instinct is what the breed’s owner will have to deal with.
